Your rights under Australian Consumer Law

Southern Made Co. supplies timber and steel furniture and custom joinery in Australia. All products and services are supplied subject to the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law. Nothing in this policy excludes, restricts or changes rights or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

Change of mind

We do not generally accept returns or provide refunds simply because you change your mind, select the wrong dimensions, or no longer require an item. This includes made-to-order items. Any discretionary change-of-mind return must be agreed with us in writing. This does not affect your consumer-guarantee rights.

Faulty, damaged or incorrectly described items

If a product has a problem, please contact us using our contact page with your order or quote reference, a description, and photographs if available. We will assess the issue and arrange a lawful remedy. Depending on the circumstances, that may be a repair, replacement, refund or compensation. Where there is a major failure, the Australian Consumer Law may entitle you to choose a refund or replacement.

Custom pieces and natural materials

Most custom work is made against agreed dimensions, materials and finishes. Timber varies naturally in grain, colour and figure. Ordinary disclosed natural differences may be expected, but cannot be used to deny a remedy where goods do not meet a consumer guarantee or agreed description.

Returns and delivery costs

Contact us before sending or transporting goods so we can agree on safe arrangements. Where an item fails to meet a consumer guarantee, reasonable return costs will be handled as required by law. For heavy, installed or hard-to-transport items, we will arrange collection where required under the Australian Consumer Law.

Custom-order cancellations and deposits

If you wish to cancel or vary an accepted custom order, contact us as soon as possible. We will explain any work or materials already committed and discuss the outcome under the written quotation and applicable law. We do not impose a blanket non-refundable-deposit rule or exclude remedies required by law.
